Friday February 26 Sunny

Today is the Lantern Festival. Mum told me how she spent the festival when she was a little girl. It was very interesting.

Mum always did something interesting with her friends. First, she loved to set off fi recrackers and it was one of her favourite activities. Second, yangko was popular in the north of China. Mum and her friends sometimes did the yangko dance. Third, in the evening, Mum went to guess lantern riddles. She was good at guessing riddles and she could always get a lot of little gifts. Last but not least, Mum liked to watch the dragon dance and the lion dance, which were the greatest parts of the festival. Mum was always excited to see the performances.

I was happy to listen to my mother’s story. Although her life was hard, she had a happy childhood.
